In his latest track “Skin”, Toronto-based Julius, In Dreams pushes towards long-awaited honesty and captures the poignancy of finally telling someone how you feel. Recorded in a converted 1970s pool room, the feathery blend of acoustic and slide guitars lay a bedding for a gentle verse, before giving way to belting harmonies and a break-filled hook. Skin and its visual accompaniment have early support from Justin Nozuka.
Toronto-born and based singer, songwriter, and producer Gabe Gonzalez started making music as a kid, and hasn’t stopped. From middle school bands to college rap and spinning techno in grungy after hours, his penchant for bedroom pop has him right back where he began. His latest project Julius, In Dreams is an umbrella for the songs he has quietly and lovingly crafted over the past few years, and is ready and grateful to share.
Gonzalez is of Filipino and Chilean descent. He has recently been an opening act for Plastic Picnic and Char Aragoza (of Mother Tongues, Luna Li).
His frequent collaborators include Philip Nozuka, Tylor J Santos, Bese (of Lido Pimienta) as well as Mike McPhee and Patrick Perez.
